Inkle Loom Bracelets at NautiMI

September 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In this workshop you will weave on a class loom that is all set up and ready to weave.    No previous weaving experience is required and this class is for students age 9 and up.   All equipment and materials will provided to make 2 – 3  bracelets as time allows.

Discover the technique of inkle weaving in this beginner-friendly workshop. “Inkle” is a term that refers to a specific type of band or strip created on an inkle loom. These bands are often woven in colorful patterns and can vary in width, usually ranging from a half-inch to a few inches wide and several feet in length.  These narrow woven strips can be used as decorative trim or edging on clothing, bags, or various textiles. They also make make awesome belts, bag straps, or even as harnesses for instruments due to their strength and ability to support weight. We will make our bands into bracelets in this workshop, but other fun uses for these bands are bookmarks, keychains, headbands, or decorative edges for pillowcases or table runners. We love inkle weaving and think you will too!
