Lemko Style Egg Art

March 25 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$30.00

Come to Mi Craft house during this winter season and learn the art of Lemko style egg decorating! Our beginner-friendly class offers an introduction to the beautifully decorated Lemko-style eggs, where we will use traditional techniques and designs specific to the Lemko ethnic group, particularly in the region of Lemkivshchyna, which spans parts of Poland, Ukraine, and Slovakia.  With spring on the horizon, our egg workshops gain popularity swiftly. Securing your spot in advance ensures you’ll be equipped to present your friends with beautifully adorned Pysanky as the season blooms closer.

Lemko-style eggs typically feature geometric shapes, stylized flora and fauna, religious symbols, and other motifs specific to the Lemko culture. These eggs hold cultural significance, often exchanged as gifts during celebrations such as Easter or as tokens of goodwill and protection.

In this favorite Mi Craft House workshop you will learn the wax-resist dyeing technique and use a stylus type tool to apply heated beeswax to the egg.  All supplies and tools are included to use during our workshop. You will take home one completed egg that is emptied and ready for display in a wood stand.
